The Summer I Turned Pretty just hits different. Ask anyone! The popular Amazon Prime show, which is based on a book series by author Jenny Han, has been a fan-favorite since its inaugural season dropped last summer. And now, the show’s second season is in full swing after debuting on July 14. Right now, there are five episodes that are available to stream, with the fifth having just dropped on Friday.
In case you need a quick refresher, relatably lovelorn teenager Belly Conklin (played by Lola Tung) and her brother Steven Conklin (Sean Kaufman) have spent many summers at Cousins Beach with their mom’s BFF Susannah Fisher (Rachel Blanchard) and her sons Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney). During season 1, Belly was caught in a love triangle with both Fisher brothers, ultimately deciding that Conrad was her one true summer love. But during season 2, things get… complicated.
Spoiler alert! This season, the crew returns to the beach house after Susannah’s death and have to deal with the fact that Susannah’s sister, Aunt Julia (Kyra Sedgwick), has moved all of Susannah’s things out and plans to sell the property. Belly and Conrad have weird unresolved tension, and Jeremiah is just waiting for his chance to swoop in.
If you simply *must* know what happens next, you’ve still got some time before the final episodes drop. So… When are the next episodes going to be released?! Here’s what to know.
Are there more episodes?
Yes! Episode 5 dropped on July 28, and there are still three more episodes coming down the pipeline. Doing the math, that’s… almost the whole second half of season 2.
When are new episodes released?
You can already stream the first five episodes (run, don’t walk!), and the remaining three are set to be released weekly on Fridays at 12:00 am ET. Sadly for everyone, there’s still quite a bit of time before the season finale airs on August 18.
Here’s a full breakdown of the season 2 release episode dates:
- Episode 1: Friday, July 14 (“Love Lost”)
- Episode 2: Friday, July 14 (“Love Scene”)
- Episode 3: Friday, July 14 (“Love Sick”)
- Episode 4: Friday, July 21 (“Love Game”)
- *NEW* Episode 5: Friday, July 28 (“Love Fool”)
- Episode 6: Friday, August 4 (“Love Fest”)
- Episode 7: Friday, August 11 (“Love Affair”)
- Episode 8: Friday, August 18 (“Love Triangle”)

If you really want to know what happens, you can read the book.
Obviously, since the series is based on Jenny Han’s books, you can kinda sorta skip ahead if you reeeally want to know what happens before August 18. Honestly, sounds like a perfect beach or vacation read if you ask me.
The series is available for purchase on Amazon (and probably any other major bookstore you try… Jenny Han is ubiquitous!).
Will there be a Summer I Turned Pretty third season?
The book series is a trilogy, which means technically there is still one more book that could be turned into a new season. As of right now, a third season for The Summer I Turned Pretty has not been confirmed by Amazon Prime. However, author Jenny Han is apparently *very* into the idea of doing a season 3.
“It’s totally up to what Amazon wants and really, truly what audiences want. I would love to get three seasons because there are three books. So I would love to be able to finish telling that story the way that I wrote it,” she told Variety in June 2022. “But I certainly don’t take anything for granted. I just hope people find the audience and people love it and want more.”
Stay tuned for more updates on this show as new episodes drop each week.
