TBH, this is the year of Rihanna (but isn’t every year?). The 35-year-old singer and fashion icon kicked off 2023 with a half time show at the Super Bowl that blew up the Internet in February. While it took some time for the news to be confirmed, RiRi subtly announced her pregnancy while singing her iconic song “Diamonds,” by revealing, and touching, her baby bump.
Since then, the world has been freaking out over Rihanna being pregnant again (and all the sweet details about her fam). In March, Rihanna graced everyone with more content at the Oscars, when the singer gave a beautiful rendition of her song “Lift Me Up,” with her bump on full display.
Aaand, as the unofficial queen of the Met Gala, the “Love On The Brain” singer obvs had to deliver another pregnancy look. (It was unclear whether she’d show, since last year she skipped, likely due to being extremely pregnant with her son.)
Yup, this is the singer’s second pregnancy in two years. ICYMI, Rihanna gave birth to her son on May 13, 2022 in Los Angeles, according to TMZ. He’s now almost one year old and so freaking adorable.
As for his parents, Rihanna and A$AP have a friendship that has spanned many years. But they officially began dating in November of 2020. The pair has done a solid job keeping most of the details under wraps despite their many public appearances together.

When is Rihanna due with baby No. 2?
It’s unclear exactly how far along Rihanna is at the moment, but she was definitely showing during her halftime performance in February, and even more so at the Met Gala this year. It’s typical to wait until the end of the first trimester to announce or confirm any pregnancy news, so she’s probably at least six to seven months along by now.
When a source close to the singer confirmed her pregnancy to PEOPLE in February, the insider said Rihanna’s son will have a sibling “come summer,” so it’s likely the newest member of the family could be born anywhere between June and August of this year.
She already has one son.
And the little boy’s name has finally been revealed. Previously, a source revealed to US Weekly that the couple only shared the name with close family members. “They are keeping it a secret until they’re ready to share it with the world,” the source said.
But now, the word is out: Rihanna’s first child is named RZA Athelston Mayers, per The Daily Mail, who got his certificate of live birth. The name might honor producer and rapper RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan. Meanwhile, he shares a middle and last name with A$AP: Athelston and Mayers, respectively.
Rihanna posted a TikTok on Dec. 17, 2022, of RZA riding around in a car. She was the first to show her baby’s face to the public, and he looks like a perfect combo of both of his parents. In the video, the little boy is making cute faces and noises while Rihanna laughs in the background.
“You tryna get Mommy’s phone?” she asks him.
Since, Rihanna has shown off her son a bit more on social media (and this content cannot get any cuter).
She performed with her baby bump at the Oscars.
RiRi performed the song that won her a nomination for best original song, “Lift Me Up,” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Rihanna knew that all eyes will be on her bump. Leading up to the event, she posted an adorable (and hilarious) pic of her son in his crib with the caption, “my son when he found out his sibling is going to the Oscars and not him.”
Rihanna added, “swipe for tb of my fat man,” and included a video and photo of her son watching her perform “Lift Me Up” on a laptop.
At the Oscars themselves, Rihanna certainly slayed. The singer wore a leather bra and skirt with a sheer black top that had her bump on full display.
How did she announce her first pregnancy?
Loyal fans know this isn’t Rihanna’s first rodeo. Back in 2021, A$AP and Rihanna shared the news of her first pregnancy by posing side-by-side in the snow in Harlem with RiRi’s baby bump on display. (See the photos here.)
In the photos, Rihanna wears a bright pink puffer jacket and light blue ripped jeans. The “Kiss It Better” singer paired her outfit with a black and gold belt and a gold chain with colorful gems that fell over her baby bump.
In contrast, A$AP wore a blue denim jacket over a cream-colored sweater vest and leather pants that he paired with a black beanie. With A$AP wearing blue and Rihanna wearing pink, it’s clear that these two were on a mission to keep the public guessing what the gender of the baby would be.
In March 2022, Rihanna spoke to ELLE about how she was feeling at the tail end of her first pregnancy. When asked what was keeping her so radiant, she explained, “There’s a pregnancy glow. There’s also those days, girl. Especially in the third trimester where you wake up, and you’re like, oh, do I have to get dressed?”
Does A$AP Rocky have kids?
A$AP Rocky only shares one kid with Rihanna so far. He’s always wanted children.
In a 2021 interview with GQ, A$AP called Rihanna the love of his life. And while he didn’t reveal too many details about their relationship, he did open up about wanting to be a father. “If that’s in my destiny, absolutely,” he said. “I think I’d be an incredible, remarkably, overall amazing dad. I would have a very fly child. Very.”
Rihanna wants three or four kids.
In March of 2020, Rihanna starred on the cover of British Vogue and got candid about starting a family. “Since I turned 32, I’m realizing life is really short,” she said. She then went on to explain how she and her team work incredibly hard now so she won’t have to in the future in order to fully focus on family life.

When asked where she’ll be in 10 years, Rihanna said she’d like to have three or four kids, even if she doesn’t have a partner.
“[Society will] diminish you as a mother if there’s not a dad in your kids’ lives,” she said. “But the only thing that matters is happiness, that’s the only healthy relationship between a parent and a child. That’s the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love.”
When she announced her recent pregnancy, PEOPLE also reported that Rihanna wants “several” children, so it is very likely Baby #2 won’t be her last.
She loves being pregnant.
A source also told US Weekly that “Rihanna loved being pregnant and fully embraced her pregnancy body,” adding that it wouldn’t be a surprise if the couple tried for a second child sometime soon.
Sounds like A$AP and Rihanna are ready to hit the ground running in the family planning department. RZA will be just a little over a year older than his new sibling. I cannot wait to see this kid and the future pregnancy looks RiRi has planned.
Congrats, RiRi and A$AP!!!!
